A fall afternoon well spent
Today my three sons and l spent a fine day hunting arrow heads ,stream fishing, and shooting the pellet gun. We always come home with soaked pants ,river pruned feet muddy shoes and a pockets full of rocks. But I came home with something more solid than rocks . Time well spent. These are the times they will remember, and the times they will look forward to again. No arroweds were found, no bites on the cricket baited hook, just pockets full of solid reminders of what life is really all about.

wake up
Birds are chirping, alarm is buzzing, another good day to mark things off the list one at a time and not think about the big picture. Just what's next.

Thoughts about this life
Life is a series lessons, not a series of tests. There may be a pop quiz now and then or crossroads were we to stop and look back. We can see what kind of student we are. Maybe we see ourselves as a victim taking a course that we cannot remember signing up for.
As we discover answers we can sometimes also discover more questions to ask. Is this because we are asking the wrong questions to begin with? Maybe we ask questions where the answers are beyond our understanding in this life. I would like to believe that it is all arranged by angels but I cannot prove this theory one way or the other. I can just believe it to be true for myself.
On this cold but beautiful day , I stood behind my dear friend and his wife as they lowered their baby girl into the earth. If there was an answer to their "why?" I'm sure it would not be much more comfort then they received from family and friends who were most likely asking the same question.
How can we move forward when faced with a crossroad of this magnitude. In any direction we choose, there is a guarantee of pain and pleasure joy and sorrow. This goes for everyone and there are no exceptions. Knowing that may offer some comfort. The paths we choose can collide or merge with others on their life's journey. We can choose to remain close or far away as we travel. If we remain close, we can celebrate the joys just as we can comfort or receive comfort through the pain. This is the recipe we call life. We can also call it love, but only if we let one another know that they are not alone.

It's my birthday
It's my birthday! This is my wife Trish who is turning 39 tomorrow. Where does the time go? She is still 25 to me. We missed our movie yesterday after diner so we strolled through the mall and got massages at Brookstone. We also tried on the brain massage unit. She will get a real one tonight : ).

Just like the old days.
Iced streets make great sled tracks. I felt like I was 8 years old again. Matthew had to be talked into going all the way to the top of the hill, but when he laughed all the way down it didn't seem as bad as he thought it would be. Kind of like me skiing a dew weeks ago in Squaw Valley with my buds Durand and John. They talked my down a few slopes that I would shy away from. Then I could not wait to go up and do it again.

At the Ringling Bros Circus
It's been a long time since I've been to the circus. What a show indeed. The kids are wide eyed amazed. Me too. Now I know why they say that life is like a circus, sometimes I feel like I'm in my own circus blind folded and walking a wire.

Life is a walk in the park.
A nice lunch with my buddy Matthew Drumright youngest son Nicholas and our new puppy Lyla. Then a walk around the park to feed the ducks and my soul. When I first started shooting I lived less than a mile from the park. I was here all the time taking photos with a borrowed camera. It took me back and made me ask myself. What would I be doing now if I didn't discover photography? I have no idea, because I cannot see myself doing anything else but photography now that I'm here. The trick now is to separate myself from what I love to do. Can this be done? I am what I think!? What do I think about most? God the most, but I am not God, I am Michael Gomez and photography is what I do to pay the bills and for fun. I am a husband to my wife, a father to my child, a dog to my dog, a friend to my friend and strange to a stranger. Who is normal anyway? What is normal? We are all really strangers to each other unless we are mind readers. Who am I to God? Who is God to me? I have been lucky enough to ask this question to myself now and not seek the answer from someone else. Most of my life I have been told who I am or should be and who God is or should be to me. I had my doubts about it all. To many details to digest without experience to go along with it. That's like cookies without milk. A filet mignon without red wine or peas without carrots. How do I cram for a pop quiz that life has for me? Well believe it or not I found my answer! You can find your own. You just have to ask the right question(s). So I am something different to different people but I can be a photographer to all of them. To a client, my wife, child, dog, friend, stranger, myself, and even God. I love photography and with the same bond I can be the same to to everyone around me. LOVE. You thought I was going to say photography. I'll take their photo, you bet, but LOVE is my answer
to the big picture I want to share with the world.

View from my room at the Resort at Squaw Creek
This is the view from my room in the morning. Not bad , but it could be better if Trish was here to share it with me. Squaw Valley is a great place to ski. Long trails nice coverage. It seemed like everyone just left as we arrived. New Years celebration is over here so the slopes are wide open.
2nd day Skiing , my legs are burning at the end of the day. I went down some trails that I would never go down if John 'Ski Dog" and Durand didn't talk me into. Glad I went now. Blue and black diamonds. Tomorrow will be another adventure. Hope to take the big camera up on the slopes to get some better shots.
